3rd Grade News September 24 - 28 This Week’s Focus Memory – 5th and 6th Commandments and meanings Religion -   What are the Law and the Gospel? And What are the Six Chief Parts of Christian Doctrine? Language Arts - See handout that was sent home. Math – Lessons 12 - 15 over writing numbers, adding and subtracting two digit numbers, and rounding. Spelling – Vowel Diphthongs Handwriting – Lower case cursive letters Social Studies – We will be taking a break from Social Studies in order to focus on science fair. Science – More in depth look at the scientific method and starting our science fair projects.  Look for a handout coming home this week about what we will need to do our projects. 3rd Grade News September 17 - 21 This Week’s Focus Memory – 3rd and 4th Commandments and meanings Religion -   What tools help us study the bible?  What do we do with the Bible? Language Arts - See handout that was sent home. Math – Lesson 1 - 10 review and test, Lesson 11 Place Value Spelling – Vowel Digraphs Handwriting – Basic cursive strokes, spacing, and reading cursive writing Social Studies – We will be taking a break from Social Studies in order to focus on science fair. Science – The tools of scientists and the start of science fair. Thank you for so quickly turning in the permission slips for the Charlotte’s Web field trip.  The kids are looking forward to it and enjoying listening as we read through the book. 3rd Grade News September 10 - 14 This Week’s Focus Memory – 1st and 2nd Commandments and meanings Religion -  And what does it mean to be a christian?  Why should we study the bible? What tools help us study the bible?   How do we learn and use God’s word? Language Arts - See handout that was sent home. Math – Addition, subtraction, and lesson 1 - 10 review Spelling – Base words and endings Handwriting – Reading cursive and basic cursive strokes Social Studies – Understanding the Geography of the World Science – The questions and skills of scientists My apologies for not getting grades in sooner.  It got put towards the end of my to do list and as my to do list never seems to get done, it got missed.  They will be put in tonight. 3rd Grade News September 3 - 7 This Week’s Focus Memory – Books of the New Testament Religion -  What is the Bible?  Why is it important? And what does it mean to  be a christian? Language Arts - See handout that was sent home. Math – Clocks, number lines, addition, and subtraction Spelling – Plural words Handwriting – Manuscript review Social Studies – Understanding the Geography of the World Science – The questions and skills of scientists    We continue to learn routines and what is going to work best for our class.   A few things to note as the year continues: tennis shoes need to be worn or brought to school on Tuesday and Friday  for P.E. under each problem in the math book it will tell you which lesson to  reference for help on that problem I have made a changed our schedule to have Science on Monday,  Wednesday and Friday afternoons and Social Studies on Tuesday and Thursday  afternoons.
