3rd Grade News: August 30 - September 3

    3rd Grade News August 30 - September 3  This Week’s Focus Memory - Old Testament books Religion - This week we will cover lessons 2 through 5. Language Arts - See attached sheet. Spelling – Short Vowels; Syllables VC/CV Handwriting – This week we start cursive writing. Math - We start our math lessons this week.  We will start with place value and rounding. Social Studies - This week we continue in Unit 1 with lessons over oceans, continents, countries, states, and communities. Next week Friday we will be doing an activity talking about Johnny Appleseed and making applesauce.  If you would be interested in coming in to lend a helping hand, please send me a message. 3rd Grade News: August 23-27

    3rd Grade News August 23 - 27  This Week’s Focus Memory - The books of the New Testament Religion - We will practice finding bible verses in our bibles, do a little bible trivia, and then jump into the first couple of lessons. Language Arts - This week we will do some testing to see what we remember from last year.  We will also spend time practicing skills and routines we will use each week. Math - We are going to be doing small group instruction for math this year.  This means we will need to do some practicing to prepare for our math center rotations and what to expect in math starting next week. Spelling – Our first spelling list is a list of words that we will use frequently through the school year and are important to know how to spell correctly. Handwriting – This week we start with Manuscript letters as a refresher. Social Studies - We will jump right into Unit 1 which talks about hemispheres, continents, oceans, countries, states and communities. I look forward to a
