Third Grade News: Sep. 27 - Oct. 1

      3rd Grade News September 27 - October 1 This Week’s Focus Memory - 5th and 6th Commandments and meanings Religion - This week we will cover lessons 11 and 12.  We will have our first unit test on Friday. Language Arts - See attached sheet. Spelling – Vowel Diphthongs Handwriting – This week we continue to learn how to write our lower case letters in cursive. Math - This week we will finish the addition part of Ch 8 with a test over addition on Wednesday. Science - This week we will finish up our lessons in chapter six with a focus on soil, landforms, weathering and erosion. Not much to report for this week.  Students are very close to getting their first behavior bingo.  Keep working hard to get those last few spaces that we need. 3rd Grade News: Sept. 20 - 24

    3rd Grade News September 20 - 24 This Week’s Focus Memory  - 3rd and 4th Commandments and meanings Religion - This week we will cover lessons 9 and 10 Language Arts - See attached sheet. Spelling – Vowel Digraphs Handwriting – This week we continue to learn how to write our lower case letters in cursive. Math - This week we continue to work on chapter 8 over addition. Science - This week we will continue in chapter six with a focus on weather, climate, minerals, rocks, and soil. I have been sad to see the results of several of our tests recently.  I know we could do better if we focused more on instruction time and less on making funny comments and jokes.  I have moved our cards to the front of the room and will be pulling cards for students who are messing around during instruction time.  I have tried asking, waiting, and counting, but we HAVE to be better focused on our studies if we are going to really learn the information. 3rd Grade News: September 13-17

        3rd Grade News September 13 - 17 This Week’s Focus Memory - 1st and 2nd Commandments and meanings Religion - This week we will cover lessons 7 through 10 Language Arts - See attached sheet. Spelling – Base Words and Endings Handwriting – This week we begin to learn how to write our lower case letters in cursive. Math - We finish up chapter 7 over rounding and place value with a test on Tuesday.  We will then start Chapter 8 over Addition. Social Studies - This week we will finish up Unit 1 with a test on Wednesday. Science - We will start with chapter 6 over Earth and Water on Thursday. It is hard to believe that we are almost a month into school already.  This week we continue our regular routine.  We will also be taking our fall aReading and aMath tests this week.  I am looking forward to another great week with my third grade herd! 3rd Grade News: September 7 - 10

      3rd Grade News September 7 - 10 This Week’s Focus Memory - Old Testament books: Isaiah - Malachi Religion - This week we will cover lessons 6 & 7. Language Arts - See attached sheet. Spelling – Plurals Handwriting – This week we continue to work on our cursive motions. Math - We continue in Chapter 7 about place value this week. Social Studies - This week we will finish up Unit 1. We had a bit of a rough time getting back into the normal school schedule last week.  However, by Friday the class seemed to be doing better.  I pray that this week can be a positive and productive one.  We have several fun things planned for the week that I am looking forward to. Graded papers should have come home on Friday.  Students have until this Friday to do corrections.  Please make sure to do the correction s on the attached sheet.  This way I can see what students did wrong initially and how they fixed their mistakes.  If you aren’t sure how your student is supposed to go about ma
