      3rd Grade News October 31 - November 4 This Week’s Focus Memory - John 10:11 & Isaiah 40:11 Religion - This week we will finish up Unit 2 with a test on Thursday.  Then we will start Unit 3 with lessons 25 & 26 over why we call God our father. Language Arts - See attached sheet. Spelling – Words with spl, the, squ, str, and scr Handwriting – This week we will continue learning our lowercase cursive letters with o, c, & q. Math - This week we really start working on our multiplication facts.   Science - This week we start chapter 6 over Earth and weather. As we begin learning our multiplication facts students will receive a set of flashcards to take home.  Please use these to help them learn these facts.  Everyone who passes their fact tests for 0 through 10 will get a milkshake as a reward.  Students have from now until the end of the year to do these multiplication fact tests so study, study, study!     3rd Grade News October 24-28 This Week’s Focus Memory - 10th Commandment and Meaning Religion - We will finish our study of The Holy Spirit with lessons 23 and 24. Language Arts - See attached sheet. Spelling – Compound Words Handwriting – This week we will continue learning our lowercase cursive letters with a, d, and g. Math - We will continue learning about multiplication.  We will start learning and practicing our multiplication facts. Social Studies - This week we will finish our second unit on finding places in the United States. We are to the end of the 1st quarter already!  I can’t believe how quickly the year is going.  Report cards should come home on October 31st.  I am hoping to have all corrections in and grades up to date for this to happen.  If I am not able to get through them on the 31st I will send a note out letting you know.     3rd Grade News October 11-14 This Week’s Focus Memory - 9th Commandment and Meaning Religion - We will continue our study on the Holy Spirit with lessons 21 & 22.  We will also be practicing for leading chapel on October 26th. Language Arts - See attached sheet. Spelling – Final Syllable -le Handwriting – This week we continue learning our cursive lowercase letters, p.  Will do some reviewing of the letters we have already learned and practice reading cursive handwriting. Math - This week we will finish our unit on subtraction with a test on Tuesday. We will also start our multiplication unit. Social Studies - This week we continue our second unit on finding places in the United States. Our fall party is coming up quickly on October 28th.  There will be a parade of costumes at 2:00 and our party will be held after this in the classroom.  I am attaching a flyer of who is responsible for drinks and snacks for this party.  If you would be interested in leading the class in

      3rd Grade News October 11-14 This Week’s Focus Memory - 7th and 8th Commandments and Meanings Religion - We will continue our study on the Holy Spirit with lessons 18-20. Language Arts - See attached sheet. Spelling – Syllables, V/CV, VC/V Handwriting – This week we continue learning our cursive lowercase letters, r, s, and j. Math - This week we will start our unit over subtraction.  Like our addition unit, we will cover many different ways to subtract.  I do not expect the students to master all the different ways, but to find a way that works best for them. Social Studies - This week we start our second unit on finding places in the United States. We dive into another busy week.  We are back to our usual Language Arts studies and start new math and social studies units.  Don’t forget that Sunday is the CLS Brunch.  Please come out and support this PTL fundraiser and enjoy a delicious breakfast.
