        3rd Grade News December 19-22 This Week’s Focus Memory - None Religion - We start Unit 5 and will cover lessons 49 -51 this week. Language Arts - See attached sheet Spelling – Consonant Patterns wr, kn, gn, st, mb Handwriting – This week we will continue our capital cursive letters. Math - We are starting on division this week.  We start by going through different ways to think about division. Science - We continue our study of space with lessons 3 and 4. Happy New Year!!  I am praying that you had a great break.  We dive right back in as we return to school this week.  Please note that we have seven days left in this quarter.  If your student was absent those last few weeks before Christmas break, please make sure to get work in to me ASAP.  I would ask that as we finish out the school year, you send in healthy snacks with your students.  Please no candy or super sugary items. Language Arts - We will be doing some activities this week practicing our Reading skills with some Christmas stories. Spelling – None Handwriting – This week we will continue our capital cursive letters. Math - This week we continue working on our multiplication facts. Science - We continue our study of space with lessons 2 and 3.     3rd Grade News December 12-16 This Week’s Focus Memory - 3rd Article and meaning Religion - This week we will cover lessons 44-47 Language Arts - See attached sheet. Spelling – Suffixes Handwriting – This week we will continue learning our cursive capital letters. Math - This week we continue working on our multiplication facts. Social Studies - This week we will finish our Unit 3 over geography and the way we live with a test on Wednesday. Science - We will start learning about space with chapter 7 lesson 1. We have three parent volunteers to drive for the luncheon on Wednesday! The kids are working on their parts for the poem we are going to recite.  They are also working on learning the song Do You Hear What I Hear?  There is a permission slip attached that I need returned by Wednesday morning.  There is also a flyer about our class Christmas party.  Please check this, as it has who needs to bring what food and drink items for the party.       3rd Grade News December 5-9 This Week’s Focus Memory - 2nd Article Part 2 and meaning Religion - This week we will cover lessons 40-43 Language Arts - See attached sheet. Spelling – Spellings of /j/, /s/, /k/ Handwriting – This week we will start learning our cursive capital letters. Math - This week we will finish our Multiplication units with a test on Monday.  We will then continue practicing our multiplication facts Social Studies - This week we will continue Unit 3 over geography and the way we live. The third-grade class has been invited to have a luncheon with the St. Stephen’s Women in Mission.  If you are able to drive students to Atkins on December 14th at 11:00, please let me know as soon as possible.  Drivers are invited to stay, eat lunch, and watch the students perform a poem and songs.
