3rd Grade Newsletter: Christmas Break

3rd Grade News Christmas Break This Week’s Focus Memory - Introduction and 1st Petition of The Lord’s Prayer Religion - Celebrate the birth of our Savior with any of the many church services over the next two weeks! Language Arts - Read, Read, Read! Math –Practice those multiplication facts.  Taking two weeks off will set us back, so make sure to keep practicing over break so you don’t forget your facts. Spelling – The next spelling list will be posted after New Year’s. Handwriting – If there are letters you know your child is struggling with please help them practice. Social Studies – We have completed Unit 2 and will start up Unit 3 when we get back from break. It is hard to believe that we are at Christmas Break already!  This year is just flying by! Thank you to all who helped to make our Christmas party a success.  Whether it was through food, drink, game ideas, or presents, it is greatly appreciated. 3rd Grade News December 9 - 13 This Week’s Focus Memory - 3rd Article of The Creed and it’s meaning Religion - This week we continue learning about God the Father. Language Arts - See attached sheet Math – We will continue working on our multiplication facts. Spelling – Week 13: Spellings of /j/, /s/, & /k/ Handwriting – We continue lowercase cursive letters this week. Social Studies – We are going to be talking about finding places in the United States and see where they are in relation to us. This week we continue to work hard at our regular schedule.  There are lots of things being added into our week including making gingerbread houses with our chapel families, Christmas luncheon at St. Stephen’s, and Christmas Concert on Friday.  Please continue to work with your children on their table manners and speaking parts for the Christmas luncheon. 3rd Grade News December 2 - 6 This Week’s Focus Memory - 2nd Article of The Creed Part 2 and it’s meaning Religion - This week we continue learning about God the Father. Language Arts - See attached sheet Math – We will continue learning our multiplication facts. Spelling – Week 12: Prefixes Handwriting – We continue lowercase cursive letters this week. 3rd Grade News November 4 - 8 This Week’s Focus Memory - John 14:6 and Psalm 31:14 Religion - This week we start learning about God the Father. Language Arts - See attached sheet Math – We will test over our 0, 1, 2, 5, and 10 facts on Tuesday.  Then we will continue learning the rest of our multiplication facts. Spelling – Week 10: Consonant Digraphs Handwriting – We continue lowercase cursive letters this week. Social Studies – We are going to be talking about finding places in the United States and see where they are in relationship to us. We had a pretty good week last week and got our 25 sticks for a party.  We will celebrate on Friday with an ice cream party. Since the party isn’t until Friday we will start working to earn our next party.  I have some specific goals that I want the kids to work on. 3rd Grade News November 4 - 8 This Week’s Focus Memory - The First Article of the Creed Religion - We continue to learn about Martin Luther this week. Language Arts - See attached sheet Math – We continue to learn our multiplication facts and we learn about the distributive property this week as well. Spelling – Week 9 Words with spl, thr, squ, str, scr Handwriting – We continue lowercase cursive letters this week. Science – We are doing a planet study this week! Parents PLEASE check your child’s folder daily.  Graded work will come home on Mondays with a slip to sign, however, if your child has missing or late work it will be in their folder on a daily basis.  This is an important step in communication between us and keeping you up to date on your child’s progress. Also, corrections should be done on a separate sheet of paper so that I can see what your child did to fix their mistakes.  This is something that the students will continue to

3rd Grade News October 28 - November 1 This Week’s Focus Memory - John 10:11 and Isaiah 40:11 Religion - We continue to learn about Martin Luther this week. Language Arts - See attached sheet Math – We continue with our Multiplication.  We will have a test over our equal groups, number lines, arrays, and commutative property of Multiplication on Tuesday.  Then we will start learning our multiplication facts on Wednesday! Spelling – Week 8 Compound Words Handwriting – We continue lowercase cursive letters this week. Science – We will finish up our unit on the solar system this week with a test on Wednesday. Welcome to the second quarter.  A fresh new start to continue our learning and growing.  A couple changes for the second quarter.
