Third Grade Herd

  3rd Grade News May 3 - 7 This Week’s Focus Memory - 1 Corinthians 11:28 and John 6:37 Religion - We continue in Unit 8 over God’s works in us. Language Arts - See attached sheet. Math - We finish up Ch 9 with a test on Tuesday.  Then we will start Ch 10 over fractions. Spelling – Final Syllables Handwriting – This week we continue with our daily handwriting worksheets. Science - We start ch 9 over energy. Thank you to those who have volunteered to drive for Ag Day on Wednesday.  I look forward to a fun and informational day with the students. 3rd Grade News April 26 - 30 This Week’s Focus Memory - Luke 1:45 and John 20:29 Religion - We will finish up unit 7 with a test on Tuesday.  We will then start Unit 8 over God’s works in us. Language Arts - See attached sheet. Math - We continue in chapter 9 over multiplying by multiples of 10. Spelling – Vowel Sounds in Moon and Foot Handwriting – This week we continue with our daily handwriting worksheets. Social Studies -We continue with our culture study research project. NEXT WEEK - we are going to Benton FFA’s Ag Day.  I have one driver so far but will need enough drivers to get all 16 students to the fairgrounds in Vinton.  If you can drive please let me know ASAP how many students you can take in your vehicle.  I will send home a permission slip as soon as I know who the drivers are.     3rd Grade News April 19 - 23 This Week’s Focus Memory -Acts 2:42 and Matthew 26:28 Religion - We will finish up unit 7 with a review on Friday and a test next week. Language Arts - See attached sheet. Math - We are finishing chapter 6 over area with a test on Tuesday.  We will then move into chapter 9 over multiplying by multiples of ten. Spelling – Suffixes Handwriting – This week we will finish the months of the year, do the days of the week, and start a new daily handwriting worksheet. Social Studies -We continue unit 5 over cultures with a culture study research project. Please make sure that your child has appropriate clothes for recess and PE outside.  It is still supposed to be on the cool outside this week. In two weeks we will be going to the Benton FFA Ag Day.  May 5th we will need drivers to take students to the fairgrounds in Vinton.  If you are able to drive please let me know how many students can ride with you in your vehicle. Language Arts - See attached sheet. Math - We are continuing to work on chapter 6 over area. Spelling – Vowel Patterns ei, eigh Handwriting – This week we will continue practicing writing our classmates names and start practicing writing the months of the year. Social Studies -We continue unit 5 over cultures. Thank you all for your support at Spring Fling last weekend.  It was a fun and successful evening.   3rd Grade News April 6 - 9 This Week’s Focus Memory -Romans 6:4a and What does such baptizing with water indicate? Religion - We continue unit 7 over baptism. Language Arts - See attached sheet. Math - We are moving on to Chapter 6 over Area. Spelling – Vowel Patterns au, augh, ou, ough Handwriting – This week we will start practicing writing our classmates names. Social Studies -We start unit 5 over cultures. We are now in the fourth quarter.  Students in 3rd grade are able to participate in track and field.  I hope to see some of the students at practice this week (Tuesday and Thursday).  We are getting to the end of the year and while it is tempting to start shutting and relax, this is the time to push hard and do the best that you can. We have struggled lately to be respectful of property that is not ours.  There are several things in the classroom that are my property.  I have noticed things being written on them, scratched into them, poked into them, etc.  Please talk
