Third Grade News: August 28 - September 1

        3rd Grade News August 28 - September 1 This Week’s Focus Memory - Books of The Old Testament Religion - This week we will discuss who God is, how we can know him, and what the Bible is in lessons 1-4. Language Arts - See attached sheet. Spelling – Syllables VC/CV Handwriting – We will start the week by reviewing manuscript handwriting and look at cursive writing starting on Friday. Math - This week we will work on place value and rounding (with a number line and with place value). Social Studies - This week we will talk about hemispheres, oceans, continents, and countries. I hope the students had a good first few days of school.  Our first full week of school is going to be filled with lots of learning.  Students will have PE on Tuesday and Friday, so please make sure they have tennis shoes, especially on those days.  I look forward to seeing just how much these bright third graders can achieve this week!       3rd Grade News August 23 - 25 This Week’s Focus Memory - Books of The Old Testament Religion - To start the year we will be practicing how to find bible verses in the Bible and doing a little bit of Bible trivia. Language Arts - This week's L.A. and Reading time will focus on learning our classroom procedures and expectations.  Each day I will share what procedures and expectations we discussed on Facebook. Spelling – Our first spelling list this year is made up of words that we use a lot during third grade.  This first test (Friday) will not be a grade in the grade book.  We do our spelling tests on a website called Spelling City so this is a good practice so the students know what to expect for the future. Handwriting – We will not be starting handwriting until next week. Math - For these first few days we will be talking about how our math class will work.  We will practice our math centers so we know what to do next week. Social Studies/Science - Our Social Studies a
