This Week’s Focus

Memory – 7th and 8th Commandments and meanings

Religion - What are the Six Chief Parts of Christian Doctrine? What is the First Table of the Law?  And our first Religion test.

Language Arts - See handout that was sent home.

Math – Lessons 15 - 18 over rounding, adding three digit numbers, comparing and ordering numbers, and addition story problems.

Spelling – Syllables with long and short vowel sounds

Handwriting – Lower case cursive letters

Social Studies – We will be taking a break from Social Studies in order to focus on science fair.

Science – We will be looking at our procedure for science fair, coming up with our hypotheses, identifying our variables and controls, and doing the first steps of our experiment this week.  See attached letter for more details.

This week we have our first Religion test.  We will do an in class review together and doing the the test together in class as well.  I will also be collecting their Religion books for a grade. In the future I plan to do this every five lessons or so.  We do everything together in class and have had some great conversations. I am just checking to see that everyone is following along and is getting things written down and done.

My husband was nice enough to come in this weekend and set up my document camera.  I am looking forward to using this in order to help students know where we are as we work through materials and demonstrate small objects for the whole class.  This will be a useful tool for us in third grade!
