3rd Grade News for 10-7 to 11

October 7 - 11

This Week’s Focus
Memory - Hebrews 6:19
Religion - We are talking this week about what the church is.
Language Arts - With a short week we will be reviewing grammar and c
omprehension skills that we have already covered.
Math – This week we will start subtraction.  Like addition we will talk about
many different methods that we can use to subtract.  The students will be
able to use whatever method they are most comfortable with on the test.
Spelling – We will be reviewing spelling words we have already learned.
No test this week.
Handwriting – We continue lowercase cursive letters this week.
Science – We will be starting to talk about outer space this week.

Our reading test last week was a bit rough.  We need to make sure that we
aren’t just sitting and copying what Mrs. Hines is doing, but we also need to
think about the information and what we are learning.  We practice our vocab
everyday and there was a lot of trouble with this on the test. You need to take
the time when we are studying in class to really work on learning the definitions
of the words.  As far as our stories on our tests we need to take the time to go
back to the story, find what the question is talking about, and find our answer.
I will be sending home a sheet this week with who needs to bring what for
each of our school parties.  If you are interested in doing a craft with the class
for the Fall Party on October 31st please let me know asap.
In Christ,
Mrs. Hines
