3rd Grade News for the week of October 29th

3rd Grade News October 29 - November 2 This Week’s Focus Memory – Psalm 147:4 due Wednesday, October 31st and Colossians 1:16 due Friday, November 2nd Religion - Reformation review and What does the sanctified life look like? Language Arts - Review of comprehension skills. Math – Review of skills and introduction of Math Centers. Spelling – No spelling words this week. Handwriting – Lower case cursive letters Social Studies – We continue in lesson two over Finding Places in the United States this week. Science – We will be spending a large amount of our time this week finishing up our science fair projects.   Thank you so much for meeting with me last week for Parent-Teacher Conferences.  I apologize to those who had to stay late and I thank you for such productive meetings.  I was again reminded how blessed I am to be at Central and look forward to continuing to work with you to give the students the best education possibl...

3rd Grade News October 15 - 19 This Week’s Focus Memory – 10th Commandment and meaning, students will try on Wednesday and if they don’t pass they will do it again on Friday. Religion - How does the Holy Spirit bring us to faith? And How does the Holy Spirit keep us in faith? Language Arts - See handout that was sent home. Math – Unit 2 Test on Tuesday.  Lesson 21 - 22 over naming dollars and cents, exchanging dollars, dimes, and pennies, and adding dollars and cents. Spelling – Compound Words Handwriting – Lower case cursive letters Social Studies – We continue in lesson two over Finding Places in the United States this week. Science – We will be checking our bread samples and writing down any observations that we have.  I do have some concerns that our classroom is so cold that we may not have much for mold growth.  We will have to see what happens. 3rd Grade News October 8 - 12 This Week’s Focus Memory – 9th Commandment and meaning, students will try on Wednesday and if they don’t pass they will do it again on Friday. Religion - Who is the Holy Spirit? And How does the Holy Spirit bring us to faith? Language Arts - See handout that was sent home. Math – Lessons 18 - 20 over addition story problems, subtracting three digit numbers, and subtraction story problems.  We will have come to the end of another set of ten lessons so we will have a review assignment to go over before a test next week. Spelling – Final Syllable -le Handwriting – Lower case cursive letters Social Studies – We will start lesson two over Finding Places in the United States this week. Science – With the main part of our experiment done we will only spend a small amount of time this week taking time to observe the changes to our bread this week. 3rd Grade News October 1 - 5 This Week’s Focus Memory – 7th and 8th Commandments and meanings Religion - What are the Six Chief Parts of Christian Doctrine? What is the First Table of the Law?  And our first Religion test. Language Arts - See handout that was sent home. Math – Lessons 15 - 18 over rounding, adding three digit numbers, comparing and ordering numbers, and addition story problems. Spelling – Syllables with long and short vowel sounds Handwriting – Lower case cursive letters Social Studies – We will be taking a break from Social Studies in order to focus on science fair. Science – We will be looking at our procedure for science fair, coming up with our hypotheses, identifying our variables and controls, and doing the first steps of our experiment this week.  See attached letter for more details. 3rd Grade News September 24 - 28 This Week’s Focus Memory – 5th and 6th Commandments and meanings Religion -   What are the Law and the Gospel? And What are the Six Chief Parts of Christian Doctrine? Language Arts - See handout that was sent home. Math – Lessons 12 - 15 over writing numbers, adding and subtracting two digit numbers, and rounding. Spelling – Vowel Diphthongs Handwriting – Lower case cursive letters Social Studies – We will be taking a break from Social Studies in order to focus on science fair. Science – More in depth look at the scientific method and starting our science fair projects.  Look for a handout coming home this week about what we will need to do our projects.
